- Virginia received the top score in the Government Performance Project's "Grading the States 2008" report.
- Nationally recognized financial professionals have conducted a rigorous examination of the Commonwealth's financial practices over a significant number of years. They have awarded Virginia the highest AAA bond rating for 70 years, longer than any other state.
- In 2007, the Tax Foundation ranked Virginia the 18th lowest among the states in state and local tax burden.
- Virginia ranked 38th among the states for voter registration in 2004.
- The Center for Digital Government continues to rank Virginia among the leaders in innovative uses of digital technology. In 2008 Virginia won top honors in its Best of the Web survey.
The state government and citizen engagement indicators help to assess the progress we are making; understand the key elements that influence the indicators; clarify the role the Commonwealth is taking to improve the administration and management of state government; and increase citizen participation at all levels of government.
